Victoria County is located on the world famous Cabot Trail and beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes. Home to Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site and Cape Breton Highlands National Park.


May Events

1) May marks Gaelic Awareness Month for Nova Scotia as the province
   celebrates more than 200 years of Gaelic language and culture. Highland
    Village
Museum in Iona, Victoria Co., will observe the month with a guest
   presentation by Lewis MacKinnon, CEO for the Office of Gaelic Affairs, on
   Thursday, May 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. followed by a Ceilidh.

2)
Middle River Lupus Run - May 10th. 5 & 10 Km distances

3) Opening of Lobster Season in Victoria County - May 15th. Visitors will be
    able to buy lobsters from the wharf(s) on May 16th. These include Englishtown,
    Big Bras d'Or, Little River, Ingonish Ferry, Ingonish, Neil's Harbour, New Haven,
    Dingwall, St. Margaret's Village.

4) The Big Event -  Cabot Trail Relay Run - May 24 -25 The Cabot Trail Relay
    Race is a 185 mile /298km, 17 stage relay race through some of the most  
   
beautiful scenery in the world... beginning in Baddeck, Cape Breton, over steep
    mountains in the Cape Breton Highlands, through many small communities around
    the famous Cabot Trail, to the gently rolling Margaree Valley.

5) Start of Lobster Palooza Festival - May 25  - 35 days of springtime feasts
   and fun. May 25-June 30th.

6) May 31st - Lobster Supper at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Hall,
    North River Bridge


Upcoming June Events

June 14th - 100th Anniversary of Baddeck Parade and historic mail
run from Iona to Baddeck

June 20 - Stage 5 of the Ride the Lobster event, the world's longest Unicycle event. From Port Hawksbury to Baddeck.  The race will end in Baddeck. 

June 28 - Village of Baddeck - 100 Anniversary Week begins. Program coming soon
