Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia
1) Discover the many unique Craft Shops and Studios along the
St.Ann's, North River & North Shore area. Return by learning a
bit of history at the Little River Fisheries & Heritage Museum and
then crossing Englishtown Ferry and explore the Giant MacAskill
Museum at Englishtown. (Full Day)
2) Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site,
discover the incredible inventions of Alexander Graham Bell and
then spend time at the Bras d'Or Lakes & Watershed Interpretative
Centre and learn more about the ecology of the Bras d'Or Lakes.
Both facilities located in Baddeck (5-6 hours)
3) Stop at one of the many Public Internet Access Sites (CAP
Sites) in Victoria County and check your e-mail, surf the net and
plan your next day activities by visiting web sites on
communities, festivals & events, activities, attractions and much
more. (3 hrs)
4) Visit the Wagmatcook Cultural & Heritage Centre at Wagmatcook
and take a guided tour through this facility, stay for
entertainment, shop at their craft shop and eat at their
restaurant - Half day plus.
5) Visit the Gaelic College at St. Ann's - take a tour of the
Great Hall of Clans, stay for noon time entertainment and shop at
their craft shop. (3 hours plus)
6) Visit the North Highlands Museum in Cape North, continue on to
Aspy Bay and stop at the Cabot Landing Provincial Park and see
where John Cabot landed in 1497. Off to Bay St. Lawrence and a
visit to the community centre, where they have a fitness centre,
youth centre, library and CAP Site , a tea room and much more. (
Full day)
7) Head for Iona and the Nova Scotia Highland Village Museum.
Visit their Roots Cape Breton Genealogy & Family Centre and
discover your ancestors. The Highland Village has one of the
most extensive databases on the island. Family trees are their
specialty. Visit their craft shop during your visit and their
museum. (Half day plus)
